What can learn about resilience from people who live with a chronic illness?
Ani Barber is a diversity campaigner, the founder of a blog called ‘Outside Our Way’, which features interviews from people who are disabled and chronically ill, and a panellist on the podcast ‘On the Outside’ which offers diverse view on outdoors news. Ani is an outdoors enthusiast, she is a hiker, climber, stand up paddle boarder and swimmer, who is passionate about outdoor spaces being available to all.
She also shares her experience of living with Lupus and other hidden illnesses while getting outside.
Ani has recently been featured in a film called ‘Walking Towards Pain’, by filmmaker Frit Tam. The film shows Ani preparing and completing a walk up Helvellyn in the Lake District. The film opens up to the viewer to Ani’s world of pain, fatigue and other symptoms, both before, during and after the day, which are so often hidden.
